You are NOT for wind power...

I swear I am going to bitch slap the next environmentalist who says they are for wind power. You are NOT for wind power. You may be for the idea of wind power. You may be in favor of clean energy production. But when it comes to sticking 200 wind turbines in your back yard, or somewhere nearby, you are NOT for wind power.

Once it comes down to actually putting those wind turbines that are hundreds of feet high up, all the environmentalists change clothes, and start talking out of the other side of their mouths. All of a sudden wind turbines are evil, because they kill birds and bats, and they cause sun light flicker, and the look ugly, and they make noise...

I dont know how these people think wind power actually works, but until someone invents a big, magic, invisible net to catch all the wind, we're stuck with these huge wind turbines. Yeah, they may kill some birds. Yeah, they may cause the sun to flicker for 15 minutes a day, depending on where you stand. Yeah, they may make a little noise.

F-ING DEAL WITH IT YOU SISSY!

Either you support wind power, clean energy production, and you support all these big ass, bird killing, loud wind turbines... or you dont. You cannot have it both ways.

Its kind of like this whole ANWR deal. Everyone in this country wants to drive a car. Cars take oil and gas, which comes from the ground. But once it comes to actually drilling for the oil, then all of a sudden they are against it.

"Oh my God, some poor polar bear might have to move its home 2 miles east... how will they survive?!?!"

"Oh my God, I may have to actually look at a f-ing oil rig when I look out over the ocean!"

Yeah dumbass, thats how we get the stuff your car runs on, and thats how we get the stuff that heats your DAMN HOUSE!

Sometimes we have to make sacrifices to live like the fat, happy pigs we are. Its time to stop being such ninnies about it.

peace nick

I waited so fucking long to post this comment that I feel obliged to leave a good one! You hit the nail right on the head. Most "environmentalists" just want something to bitch about. Wind turbines work, and can help. Most birds only eat, shit, and die anyway. We need the oil in the ANWR as well. It`s oil that won`t put money in the pockets of the sorry bastards that are trying to kill us. So many people are hypocrites. They want the advantages of our wasteful society, but can`t understand what makes it work. If they really felt so strongly about the nonsense they talk, they would leave our society, and become migratory goat herders like the former "Cat Stevens".

We'd sure have a lot more goat cheese that way huh?

Good post, I agree with you, hard to believe that when someone comes up with solution to renewable energy we'd let something like a few dead birds and minor irritations stand in the way.

However, on the issue of ANWR I strongly disagree. Not because of the effects on the environment or displacement of wildlife but rather something more practical. Really, what effects at the gas pump is this going to have? None. You'd think since we occupy Iraq we'd see some discounts but instead we have record highs. Unless they can guarantee some overall impact in gas prices why bother. Instead of spending all that money to dig up the ground why don’t use it come up with a better hybrid vehicles

Its practical to say any domestic oil exploration/drilling needs to impact overall gas prices immediately? If that is the criteria for any oil domestic oil exploration, we will never be able to drill for anything. Which is fine, but just understand that we will forever be dependent on foreign oil. We will also be dependent on our armed forces to protect those oil interests abroad.
As far as hybrid vehicles, I agree that they should, and will, play a larger role in our society. And I think the car manufacturers are catching on quick.
However, oil still drives the world economy. And it is used for more than just making gasoline for cars. And it will be needed far into the future. And in the future it will be harder and harder to get our hands on because the growing Asian economies are going to be buying it all up.
So the choice is simple. We can focus on domestic production, anything we can get, or we can simply be buyers in the global oil market, and be subject to all the external price forces out there.
